Posting Summary: The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Program Support Technician for the Appalachian Telemental Health Network. The ATMHN will work to advance the innovative use of telehealth as a solution for improved mental health, behavioral health and substance abuse outcomes; and reducing barriers of time, distance, and provider scarcities for those living and working in the Appalachian Region of Virginia. This is a grant funded position with funding secured through June 2020, with the possibility of continuation. The ATMHN- Virginia Pilot will work to expand and enhance access to quality affordable mental health services in the Appalachian counties of Virginia, allowing for efficient, early and accurate diagnoses, and reduced travel time and costs of care; establish current telehealth infrastructure and capacity; support and develop regional partnerships and pilot projects; provide evidence for telehealth policy change; develop a readiness assessment tool for providers; support telehealth training opportunities; assess market dynamics by state, including reimbursement rates, and payer source; and create online referral network and resource center for providers and professionals. The Program Support Technician will support the implementation the ATMHN strategic plan, increasing numbers of licensed mental health providers in the directory of tele-mental health providers, increasing the number of providers available to provide services via telemedicine in rural and underserved populations in the Appalachian Region of Virginia. This position will be responsible for developing marketing materials including an online/social media presence and a physical presence at events and conferences, as well as build relationships with and conduct key informant interviews with licensed mental health providers to help inform the development of incentives and marketing messages. This position will play a key role in summarizing and reporting on the results of the ATMHN. This professional must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as time management, relationship development and the ability to interact with all levels of organizations including community leaders, colleagues, stakeholders and citizens. The Program Support Technician will report to the ATMHN Program Director, and work closely and collaboratively with ATMHN partners, listed above. A bachelor's degree is required, as well as experience developing relationships, collaborations and partnerships; technicial proficiency in MS Office; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to self-direct and multi-task. Preference will be given to those with experience and interest in working in rural health and with rural populations, behavioral and mental health; experience developing marketing messages and materials; and a commitment to central Appalachia, community based public health, rural health, and cultural competence.
