Posting Summary: The laboratory of Dr. Victor Engelhard in the Carter Immunology Center of the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks a Laboratory Technician 2 to participate in cancer immunology research. Technical duties include cell culture, flow cytometry, nucleic acid analysis, working with mice, and participating in acquisition of samples from cancer patients. The position will support a 9-member laboratory composed of graduate students and research associates. Administrative duties include ordering/receiving/invoicing, record keeping, equipment management, and mouse colony record keeping.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in an applicable science (biochemistry, biology, immunology, microbiology or cell biology) by start date, with a minimum of one year laboratory experience. Experience obtained as a student may be considered. Qualified candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to work within a multi-member research team composed of scientists and clinicians. Desirable qualities include attention to detail and ability to retain and apply information. Candidates will preferably have experience in cell culture and small animal work.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
